| This 3 day, 6 hour time lapse movie is of Eastern tent caterpillar larvae migrating to leaves to feed and constructing a silken tent in the crotch of a branch. The caterpillars feed and develop in colonies. After feeding the larvae return to the nest and enlarge the structure as they grow. Images were taken at 3 minute intervals. |
