| This is a 5 day, 8 hour time lapse movie of the mushroom Amanita muscaria, commonly known as fly agaric, growing and senescing. Amanita muscaria is a poisonous and possibly psychoactive mushroom common in the Northern Hemisphere. It is a mycorrhizal symbiont with various deciduous and coniferous trees. It is a large white-gilled, white-spotted mushroom that can grow 6" tall with an equally wide cap. Several subspecies with differing cap color have been recognized to date. Images were taken at 5 minute intervals. | ||
