The Emerald Ash Borer, Agrilus planipennis, is an invasive beetle that has recently been reported in New York state and is expected to cause serious damage to ash trees here. This male specimen was photographed with a 40mm Zeiss Luminar lens. A Cognisys StackShot motorized micro rail was used to take 15 images at slightly different focal depths. Helicon Focus software was then used to create this single image with deep depth of field.
