Hyphae of E.turcicum

After successfully penetrating the leaf, E. turcicum grows scantily in the mesophyll tissue. The hyphae then invade the xylem and extend to the other parts of the leaf through the vascular network. To complement from conventional macroscopic components of disease resistance, we are currently using a series of microscopic parameters to understand how individual QTL affect pathogen development.
