Marasmius rotula - magic twangers, with staphylinid beetle tenants
Insects and mushrooms are ancient rivals. Sometimes the bug eats the mushroom; sometimes the
mushroom eats the bug. Occasionally they are kind-hearted and help each other out. Here a family of
rove beetles has taken up residence among the gills. When they wake up in the mornings they are dusty
with mushroom spores, which must make a tasty breakfast.
